One thing that I started doing recently is to look in particular at fellow alone-eaters. And not accidentally-alone: people who go to the restaurant alone with the explicit intention of eating. For it is in them that you can see the spark of the profound love of food that I share. Of enjoying, every so often, to go to a restaurant alone to dedicate two full hours to enjoying food to its fullest, without being bothered by silly things like partners, friends or coworkers.
